Who's behind this
Hej! I’m Pablo Widlert, a parkrunner based in Stockholm, Sweden. I am visiting the UK over the winter holidays with a specific goal: completing the Christmas Day and Festive Double challenges!
I built this interactive finder tool because I needed a quick, map-based way to coordinate my holiday travels and find events that are definitely staging runs on December 25th and January 1st.
This tool is a labour of love and completely free. If it helps you secure your holiday milestones, feel free to Buy Me a Coffee ☕ to help offset my server hosting costs.
See you on the starting line!
The list is one very long table
Every autumn parkrun publishes its special events page: every event that has said yes to Christmas Day or New Year's Day, every event that has said no, and every event that hasn't said anything yet — this year's edition runs to 1,428 mappable rows: 898 parkruns and 530 junior parkruns. It's the authoritative source, and it's what this finder is built on.
What it isn't is a map. It tells you that a parkrun is taking place; it doesn't tell you whether that's the one across the road or forty miles away.
The question I actually wanted answered
"Where's my nearest Christmas Day parkrun?" meant scrolling the table, shortlisting the parks near me, then checking each one against the event map and judging the distances by eye — once for Christmas, again for New Year's. Ten minutes, every year, for a question that should take ten seconds.
So the page does the arithmetic
- 1parkrun's published festive list is read and matched against parkrun's own published event locations.
- 2You give it a postcode, a town name, or let your browser say where you are.
- 3Every event is sorted by straight-line distance from you and marked with what it has declared.
Nothing here is private or pulled from somewhere it shouldn't be — it's the same public information, re-ordered around your postcode.
Why the marks matter
Taking place Not yet confirmed Not taking place
Most event teams confirm their festive plans in December, so the bulk of the list still sits at — that means "nobody has said yet", not "no". It's shown separately so silence is never read as a cancellation. Always check an event's own news page before setting off.
Are junior parkruns included?
Yes, but not by default. 530 of the 1,428 rows are junior parkruns — the under-15s events, a separate programme with their own festive declarations. They stay hidden until you tick Include junior parkruns, so the first thing you see is the 898 adult and all-age parkruns. Once ticked, junior events join the results, the map and the footer counts.
That's also why the numbers in the footer change when you tick it: the same rule decides what's counted and what's listed.
What this isn't
An unofficial side project. It doesn't speak for parkrun, can't book anything, and only knows what the snapshot above knew — captured 12 October 2026 at 12:22 BST. UK only; and a parkrun that isn't on parkrun's own map of event locations can't be placed on this one either.
If it saves you the scroll this Christmas, it's done its job.
